「The Cranky Old Lady」

Born in 2003 ,young author Audrey Chiang is a 6th grader at Castillero Middle School .She loves writing, reading ,drawing, and going to the beach.  Three years ago, she wrote this poem after a trip to the beach.

A grumpy old woman lives right next door,

She yells at kids ‘til her throat turns sore.

She rudely screams and sometimes shouts,

Her voice erupts like waterspouts.

This mean, impatient, angry neighbor

Thinks children are a terrible labor.

When we go outside to play,

This old lady tells us to go away!

All the neighborhood kids keep out of her sight,

We’ve all learned she is not a delight.
